Reflection of the tree-line and sky on a perfectly still morning at Lake Wanteska in Brevard, North Carolina.

I used the reflection technique on the lake outside the house I visited, as the water was perfectly still in the early morning which helped to capture an almost perfect reflection of the tree line and plane trails in the sky. I chose the technique after seeing how pretty and picturesque the lake was as it was reflecting the sky and trees.

Merchants on Main Street in Brevard, North Carolina, begin setting up for the holiday season and festivals by offering freebies to patrons as well as decorating their storefronts.

I used the technique of leading lines by using the angled sidewalk to create a path for the viewer’s eyes to follow down the street. I think it works especially well due to the fact that the figures of shoppers can be seen at the far end of the sidewalk in the image, helping to guide the viewer’s eyes further down the street.

I attempted to use the silhouette technique as the sun contrasted the figure in the picture making the figure appear a lot darker than it actually was. I think it worked well as the sun only highlights the outline of the figure while also darkening everything else in the shot besides the sky. I chose this technique after playing around with my camera and seeing how well it caught the light of the sun while contrasting the shadows of everything else in the shot.
